- Can it influence an macOS update, if...
- #1
Hey everyone,
I recently updated my MBP 14" with an M1pro. Normally, I disconnect any device, before an update, but this time I just forgot an kept display, HDD, mouse and keyboard connected. Everything seems to work fine (except for some flickering of one app that reappeared), but I just wanted to ask, if this could somehow influence the outcome of an update?
And additional question since I do not yet fully understand how the OS and the data partition work. So, the OS is on it's read only partition and I could just reinstall the whole OS from the internet (if I wanted to). I guess this would also refresh all the updates that have been applied and install this everything at once. So, if something would have gone wrong, I could just reinstall my macOS using the recovery mode (hold power button).
If I also wanted to delete the data partition I could wipe with the erase assistent as mentioned here: Erase and reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Is this combination the only way to make a fresh reinstall? And if I do both of this will there be no traces of the old usage of my MBP left?
