Download fotos from iCloud

Hi,

Ihm trying to download fotos from my iCloud account to free up some space - but it tells me to select less than 1000 Fotos. So, I do 500 and nothing happens...
When I select 20 or so it does a download once and the I can't repeat...
Any suggestions?
