Monterey Sort images in Finder by the date image was taken

Hello to to people working with images and with finder.

There is a need for a feature to support work with image files: to sort images in FINDER by the date image was taken, ie.the date as in the EXIF data of the image file.

THe sorting by date created is NOT HELPFUL ecause "date created" in FINDER refers to the processes ondisk and NOT to the data inthe EXIF information of the image, the date piscutre was taken.

A lot of people need this feature, since by copying file to a disk the creationdata is modified to the date it was copied. I think it would need to open the EXIF data of jpg or other and to show the date picture was taken and to show it show. Any solution or idea? Best regards, Nic

1.Open Finder:

Open the Finder on your Mac.

2.Go to the Folder Containing Images:

Navigate to the folder where your image files are located.

Click on "View" in the menu bar and then select "Show View Options" or press Command + J.

4.Enable Date Created and Date Added:

In the View Options window, make sure "Date Created" and "Date Added" are selected. These options are helpful to confirm the original creation date of the file.

5.Sort by Date Created:

• Quick Look: Select an image file and press Spacebar to open Quick Look. Use the arrow keys to navigate through images, and you might see EXIF data displayed.

Unfortunately, Finder's default columns do not include a direct option for sorting images by their EXIF date. However, with the date created and date added columns, you can have a better understanding of when the files were added or created.

For more advanced photo management, you might consider using specialized photo management software that provides more detailed sorting options based on EXIF data.

Thanks for responding BUT the "creation date" in finder referes to the date the image filewas copied to the disk and NOT to the date the camera took the image. SO whn I copy e.g. I get the date form today as creation altho th eimage was taken years ago.

I need an app which reads the EXIF data and allows to show and sort by the date camera took the image.

Any app to do this or any such extension to finder?
