When I use my AirPods during WhatsApp calls, people often can’t hear me, and the connection becomes unstable.

I am using an iPhone 16 pro Max with Airpods Pro 3 and the issue mainly occurs during WhatsApp calls. I also see messages such as “Unstable connection. Try a new location.” I would like to know if my AirPods need to be inspected or replaced.

Since this mainly happens in WhatsApp and you’re seeing an “Unstable connection” message, I wouldn’t assume the AirPods need replacing. That usually points more to WhatsApp or the internet connection.

I’d first make a regular phone or FaceTime Audio call with the AirPods. If people can hear you clearly there, try WhatsApp once on Wi-Fi and once on cellular. Also check Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure WhatsApp is enabled.

If the microphone also cuts out during regular calls, test each AirPod separately under Settings > your AirPods > Microphone by selecting Always Left, then Always Right. If one side consistently fails in every app, an inspection would make sense.
