Why is Apple Watch Ultra 1 obsolete with 27?!

For very expensive watch.

Support dropped after just few years.

Ja, das ist bei allen Smart Watches so und natürlich auch bei der Watch von Apple,

sogar bei Ultra1: nach einigen Jahren ist die Hardware leider nicht mehr für alle Weiterentwicklung der Software ausgelegt.

Du kannst sie natürlich weiter nutzen, so wie sie ist.

Und mit WatchOS 26 wird sie noch einige Zeit Sicherheitsupdates erhalten.

Wie gestern deutlich wurde, ist der verbaute Chip heute nach mehr als vier Jahren nicht mehr für die Weiterentwicklung ausgelegt.

Für mich war st das u.a. der Grund, mir jeweils ein Aluminium Modell zu kaufen.

Da muss jede für sich abwägen: was ist mir wichtiger:

1. immer an den aktuellen Entwicklungen teilzuhaben
2. oder mehr Geld zu investieren
3. keine immer leichte Entscheidung

just to add a small point to christine33’s reply: “obsolete” is probably not quite the right word here. Your Apple Watch Ultra 1 does not suddenly become unusable or worthless.

According to Apple’s current watchOS 27 preview page, the Apple Watch Ultra 1 is not listed among the models compatible with watchOS 27: OS - watchOS 27 - Apple

That means it would stay on the last supported watchOS version, but you can still continue using it as long as it works well for you.

I do understand your disappointment, especially with an expensive Ultra model.

Ja, ganz genau, wobei die Watch an sich ja weiterhin gut funktioniert, genauso wie vor WatchOS 27.
